Hackathon is being organised by Indian Road Safety Campaign and Livemedia in association with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It aims to utilise the technical skills of students to improve the road safety scenario in India. Let's code for a safer India and experience the unexpected learning and fun. Win a lot, Learn a lot.
The aim of this hackathon is to develop an app or web based solution to a given road-safety problem involving the best minds of premier institutes of the country.
The participants can develop webapps or mobile apps that can measure various facets of a driver's driving habits and notify him/her of the same.
Driver distractions like mobile phone usage, loud music, etc. may be detected and presented to the driver in an innovative way as well.
Any technical solution that can be used to check whether or not a person driving a vehicle is eligible.
Note: These are only the starter points for the projects and we expect the students to come up with their own innovative ideas surrounding solutions to road safety related problems.
Kickstart of event from lecture cum workshop session. The hackathon shall start from the night of 16th Feb.
Experts shall be present to guide the participants on 17th Feb during three windows: 12-2, 4-6 and 9-11 pm.
The bootcamp shall culminate at 11 am 18th Feb, followed by prize ditribution at 3pm.
Kick start of hackathon will be from the lecture cum workshop session by Livemedia on "Role of Technology in Road Safety". Aim of the event will be to aware the youth that their technicak skills can play a huge role and will boost them up.
After the hackathon, the students shall have to submit their ideas in the form of a proposal. In the meantime, the students can discuss their ideas with the speakers.
This will be followed by the beginning of the hackathon from the night of 16th.
During the hackathon, the participants shall be given the window to ask doubts from experts and to overcome difficulties coming in the way of their projects.
Timings for doubt windows: 12-2 pm, 4-6 pm, 9-11 pm
The bootcamp shall end at 11 am on 18th Feb. The submission format shall be described later.
Top 10 projects shall be awarded. Of these, five shall proceed on to the next round.
The selected teams shall be workinig under the guidance of an expert for about a month to improve their project.
All five teams shall be presenting their projects at a mega event where eminent personalities shall be invited.

The event is divided into 3 round. It is compulsory for each team to attend a session on the “Role of Technology in Road-Safety” which will be held between 5-7:00 pm in LHC, IIT Delhi.Each team need to submit a write up containing the problem and idea of solution.These problems will lie in 3 domains- driver behaviour, road conditions and fraud detection.The participating teams need to submit their solution(in Max 100 words) of any of the problem before 8:00 pm, 16th Feb’18
